TAKEN!

It doesn't seem so long ago that I was telling you about my Barbie dream bike.  Last fall Kyle and I made the trek to the local thrift shop about three miles away from us.  We traveled by foot in the hopes of acquiring some sturdy and dependable bikes.  Here's what we actually came home with....

Lovingly dubbed the Barbie dream bike for it's bright pink and purple finish.  She's only lacking some streamers off the handle bars.

Behold Kyle's mighty Lance Armstrong road bike~note the bright "Tour de France" yellow and skinny tires perfect for paved surfaces.

Well, just the other day Kyle made a visit down to the bike garage in our building to find a puny collection of bikes numbering fewer than 10.  Mysteriously our bikes as well as our friends bikes were nowhere to be seen.  Somebody cleaned house, and with that, all my Barbie girl dreams have been dashed.  What a great tragedy.

The scene of the crime once filled with a great multitude of pedal-driven recreational vehicles.

Actually~this is good news.  In fact, it is great news.  Both of our bikes were in terrible disrepair.  Kyle loathed his for cruising on rugged terrain (which occurs just on our route to the grocery store).  We were fretting returning them to the second hand shop and definitely didn't expect to get any money back on them.  The thieves did us a great favor.  My uber-feminine ride was very difficult to ride even in at its peak~the girl who owned it before must have had legs of steel.  So, as Andy Bernard once said, it's sort of like addition by subtraction... if that makes sense.  Thank you, bike robbers.  You saved me some moving away sanity.

In other great moving news, Kyle visited our landlord and discussed this moving into the next building business.  I am happy to announce that my wonderful husband has retained our little apartment for the complete month of September so that we may come and go as we please during our travel season!  He's a good man and takes care of business.  Happy day!

I don't know how he does it, but Kyle has a mystical power over people. Can you say "free beer" at Hidalgo's?
